Module 2: Foundations of a Structured Literacy Block (Barksdale Reading Institute)

Create a structured whole group, small group, and center rotation that includes all the components of reading.

Target Audience:
K-3 teachers and administrators.

From this module, participants will be able to…

  • Evaluate your current approach to literacy instruction and adjust where needed
  • Distinguish between the roles of whole group instruction vs. small group Instruction
  • Explain the Instructional Cycle and the 90 Minute Literacy Model
  • Describe the 5 instructional practices for teaching the 5 components of reading
