Rethink Literacy 2.0: Literacy Instruction Across the Content Areas for Grades 9-12 Science

The MDE, through the Office of Elementary Education and Reading, is offering Rethink Literacy 2.0: Literacy Instruction Across the Content Areas for Grades 9-12. This professional development opportunity is for Sixth through Eighth grade teachers, district literacy coaches, and SPED teachers. During this one day, interactive training, participants will engage in activities to show them strategies for supporting literacy instruction in grades 9-12 across multiple content areas.  

 *This session is not the same as previous years, and new content will be presented! 

 Targeted Participants: 9-12 Classroom teachers, SPED teachers, Principals, District Literacy Coaches


You will be provided approximately an hour to have lunch with your training colleagues on your own.  Information on convenient local eateries will be provided at the training.

Attendance Clause
Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 Eligible attendees for this training includes teachers, counselors, and administrators who are employed by a school district or MDE. Unless specifically noted otherwise, external contractors or vendors may not attend. This event is being funded with state and/or federal funds and is being provided for employees of school districts, employees of the Mississippi Department of Education and Department contractors. Miss. Const. Art. 4, Section 66 prohibits governing authorities from making donations. According to the Mississippi Attorney General, once the federal funds are turned over to the state, the rules for the expenditure of state funds apply. Based on the Mississippi law, this event is not being provided for third party vendors or external providers.
