Middle School Literacy Training: Sustaining Strong Readers

The purpose of the collaboration between Educate America, LLC and the Mississippi Department of Education is to target Mississippi middle school teachers and leaders in literacy support, support districts by building the Science of Reading knowledge for middle school practitioners (building principals, cross-curricular teachers, instructional coaches, etc. 

Five days of onsite professional learning will be written , delivered, and cover the adolescent reader syntactic awareness, vocabulary, morphological awareness, etymology, coherence, polysyllabication, phonemic awareness and linguistics.

Middle school practitioners will be provided modeling and practice time with daily science of reading subroutines that overlay on science, social studies, ElA, and math content.

Targeted Participants: 4-8 teachers, curriculum specialist, and lead teachers.

Participants must attend all 5 days in order to receive CEUs.
