Mississippi Superintendents Institute Cohort 2: Jackson

The Leading Education Achievement in Districts and Schools (LEADS) initiative is MDE’s structured focus on effective leadership.  The LEADS initiative focuses on three areas of leadership: the development and launch of Mississippi Superintendent Institute (MSI), development and launch of MDE approved OSL training series, and the review and revision of the Mississippi Administrator Professional Growth System.

 

The Mississippi Superintendent Institute content and structure is designed in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Education and the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE).  The overall goal for the MSI is to equip new superintendents in Mississippi with the knowledge and support necessary to lead school systems where students and staff thrive.

To achieve this goal, the MSI will help leaders “zoom out and zoom in”, building on what works in the highest performing systems and business sectors and then bring it home, “What does this mean for me in my district”. 

 

The first cohort of the MSI will consist of two groups: Group 1 New Superintendents (30), Group 2 (Career Superintendents (25). Each group will attend a series of 17 days of training from August 2025-March 2026. 

 

Targeted participants: Career Superintendents in the Mississippi public schools.
